In 2018, on the eve of the FIFA World Cup in Russia, the Future Depends On You open Russian nationwide football tournament for orphans, which MegaFon has been holding for 12 years already, is going global. Twenty four teams of boys and girls aged 14 — 17 will meet in Moscow to compete for the title of world champion.
MegaFon will invite four teams to play: the winners of the 12th Future Depends On You championship in the senior age category — Galaktika from the Smolensk region, a Russian national girls team, and also a team each from both Tajikistan and Belarus. Teams from other countries will be selected by an international partner, the charity Street Сhild United, in association with Save the Children. The geographic spread of teams is impressive and will include players from Belarus, Brazil, Burundi, Canada, Egypt, England, Indonesia, Kenya, Liberia, Mauritius, Mexico, Nepal, the Philippines, Russia, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, the USA, Zimbabwe and other countries.
The first ever Future Depends On You world cup for street-connected children and orphans will result in the creation of a global platform for disadvantaged children who deserve to have their voices heard in today’s society so that they have equal chances of succeeding in life.
